Wow!!!

I have not posted in such a long time and for that I am sorry. I have been reading a lot lately, obviously, and in english we have been writing lots of poems. I love writing poetry, but hate writing structured poetry. Well, I've got to get back to that, so I will try and post more later.

Dragons! and Oracles

I just finnished reading the last Dragons in our Midst book, the fourth book in the sequal series Oracles of Fire called the Bones of Makaidos. it was AMAZING! for anyone out there reading this, both DIOM and OOF are the best books you will ever read. no one can beat Bryan Davis when he writes these. i only wish to one day write a book half as good. billy, bonnie, walter, ashley, and all the others are such inspiring characters. the poetry and songs are genious, and everthing else about them blows me away. i almost cried at the end because it was so happy and i was sad to be done! well, off to XC practice, so later!

I am really surprised. usually i dont get on two days in a row, but for one i am able to! I am in media assistant at school and the computers are open so i have some free time. not that i really have anyting to write about. i started a book called Airhead by Meg Cabot yesterday and am almost done. it is really strange, like everything she writes. but it is kind of interesting, too. i am also continuing the books i wrote about yesterday. i hope to have some interesting things to write about soon, but for now, that is all!

Spring Break!

Hey Guys!
sorry i havent blogged in so long! I have been really busy lately, and am just getting over a bad cold! I'm okay though, so dont worry! And it is spring break, so i can get better!
I have read a lot of books lately, but just started (and am almost done with) a book by C.S. Lewis, called Out of the Silent Planet. it is the first book in his Space trilogy, and it is really really good. it is also confusing because of the other languages in it. i am also reading a poetry book called City of One, and it has a bunch of poems collected from young writers around the world (i think). so that is what i am currently working on.
i recently read a book called things not seen, and it was about a boy who woke up one morning invisible. it was kind of strange.
If anyone has any suggestions for any really great books, classics, books they thought were good, poetry books, anythning, please, feel free to give me the titles. i really appreciate it!
Thanks!

More books to Wisconsin

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t been blogging lately. We went to Lake Mills, Wisconsin on Friday for Grandpa’s funeral. It was really sad, and on top of that I missed school. (I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I happen to like my education very much.) Oh well. I have a math test to make up, and I didn’t get to race my C02 car, but other that that, I suppose it is okay. I did miss my friends though.
I have read a lot lately. The first book is called Reaching For Sun. it is about a girl with cerebral palsy who has no friends until this boy moves in nearby. It is written completely in poetry form, and I liked it quite a bit.
I also reread Anne of Green Gables. It is such a good book, and funny to. I love reading books like that and can’t wait to reread Anne of Avonlea, the sequel. I think those books are positively enchanting.
Well, I should go. I will tell more about the other books I’ve read lately, (including Maximum Ride books) later. So until then, I bid you all adieu. (sorry, I was listening to the sound of music soundtrack)
well, bye!

It's my Birthday!!!

Sorry i haven't posted all weekend. we were gone to Atchison, KS and then Topeka KS, and then Kansas City (to see the plaza lights) and then St. Louis since Friday, and we got back today. But today is my birthday!!!!! yay!!!!!
we had to go to Atchison to see my granparents on my dads side, then Topeka to see his brother, my cousin and my cousins sons who are like 2 and a couple months old, and then St Louis to see my Grandma. its sad though, because my Grandpa (in St. Louis) died on New Years. :( so yeah. tears. anyway, i did a lot of reading on the trip (of course). one of the books i read part of was Pride and Prejudice. really good book. Me and my sister also watched the movie, the one w/ Kiera Knightly in it. and if you dont know what Pride and Prejudice is about (or who Kiera Knightly is) that's just kind of sad. so anyway, if you havent read the book, READ IT NOW! i mean it. i mean, who cant love Jane and Charles (Bingly), or of course Lizzie and Fitzwilliam Darcy. now that is an odd name. Fitzwilliam. i suppose it was common back then, but nowadays...
so if you want a good, old fashioned love story, read Pride and Predjudice. Or anyting by Jane Austin...
well, happy new year again. i hope i can do something fun for my birthday soon. all we did today was ride in the car...
:)

Happy New Year.

So, it’s a new year. The old has gone, the new has come. Sorry, that just popped into my mind. Don’t remember what bible verse its from. I know it isn’t referring to new years, though! ☺
I just finished reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. It was way good. It is about a young girl named Francie Nolan who lives in Brooklyn New York in the early 1900’s. The back describes it as “a book about the coming of age.” Or something like that. It is very long, and many things happen. Her father is a part time waiter who cant get a real job because he is drunk a lot, but Fancie loves him very much. The story tells of her life, from before she was born until she is 16 or so, with five different ‘books’. I liked it a lot, but find it is kind of hard to write a shot summary on this particular book. But I do recommend the book very highly. It is really good.
I find that the more I read classics such as this on, the more I am inspired to write my own novels. Many good writers of the past are often overlooked these days because no one is interested any more. They don’t want to read these great works of art. And so the books of the past become something that is pushed away and forgotten. But these works shouldn’t be forgotten. We should occasionally take them out and read them again. Because what a lot of people don’t realize is that even writing a book, let alone publishing it, is very hard work. If you want to so much as change one little thing, it completely changes the entire work, and you have to make a bunch of changes here and there. And these are some of the greatest works ever. They should not be forgotten.
Well, I should go.
bye, and again, Happy New Year
